New #Audiobook Release: ESP Spells Danger in Dark Before Dawn #YA Paranormal Book

Are you looking for an audiobook to occupy your kids 12 and up during April vacation or summer break? Perhaps you even enjoy paranormal young adult novels yourself. Dark Before Dawn is a brand new audiobook for Amazon, Audible and iTunes, and I really think that listeners will enjoy it.

Dark Before Dawn

Dawn Christian has been psychic since she was seven years old and has always considered herself an outcast. Even her own mother discourages her talent, so Dawn has kept her abilities quiet and feared a lifetime of loneliness. When she gets involved with a fortuneteller and two teenage girls who share her mysterious perception, Dawn finally belongs to a group. As her intuition strengthens, so does Dawn’s self esteem. However, when she learns her new friends may be tied to two bizarre murders, she has an important choice to make – continue developing the talent that makes her special, or challenge the only people who have ever accepted her.

Cassandra Morris did a wonderful job on the narration. Cassandra has narrated over 80 audiobooks and received multiple awards from Audiofile Magazine and Publisher’s Weekly. Recent awards include two 2011 Earphones Awards from Audiofile Magazine and a 2010 Audie Award Nomination for Outstanding Fiction Narration. Among her credits, Cassandra has narrated books in the Gossip Girl series, Pretty Little Liars series, Disney Fairies series (as Tinkerbell), The Magic School Bus series, Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew series, The Clique series, and Ivy and Bean series, and has narrated biographies for Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato.

Here are a few reviews of each book in the collection:
For Twenty-Five Years Ago Today:
“Stacy Juba has written a page-turner! This has to be one of my favorite mystery books that I’ve read this year. The characters are well written and have so much depth that it feels like this has actually happened… Book club groups will enjoy this book because there is so much that happens between its pages. The murder took place 25 years ago and to recall those facts has brought up a lot for the characters. If you enjoy a good mystery book, then do not pass this by.”
- Book-Club-Queen

“A satisfying mystery with a layered plot. The characters are believable and memorable. They are so well crafted that the villains also leave you wondering where their off-page story may lead them. Using her characters, Ms Juba builds a suspenseful mystery that also manages to delve deeply into the complexities of family dynamics, grief, guilt and forgiveness. She also paints a wonderfully realistic portrait of small town life and the activity of a small town newsroom.”
- Veronica Marie Beaumont, The Romance Reviews

For Sink or Swim:
“Being on a hit reality show not once, but three times, made Sink or Swim really hit home for me… It was an easy read and extremely well written… I would love to see it come out as a movie one day!”
- Stephenie LaGrossa, owner of GiGi Restaurant & Lounge, Philadelphia PA, Television personality and fan favorite Survivor: Palau, Guatemala, Heroes vs. Villains

“If you need help getting through a murderous workout (pun intended) this book is a wonderful, clever and entertaining distraction. The identity of the stalker left me guessing until the end, and believe me that is a refreshing and pleasant surprise. Congratulations, Ms. Juba, for giving us a great read.”
- Coffee Time Romance & More

For Dark Before Dawn:
Dark Before Dawn is a choice pick for those seeking works of modern fantasy and ESP.”
- The Midwest Book Review

“I am a fan of Stacy Juba’s and was intrigued by the plot of this story. I was hooked within the first few chapters. I refused to put it down till it was done…I would recommend this clean read to anyone!”

“I’m officially, as of right now, Stacy Juba’s number one fan…The plot and writing style was riveting in Dark Before Dawn and I didn’t expect the outcome in the least. When devastating things happened spontaneously in the story, my heart broke every single time. Digging a bit deeper, I love how Juba stitched everything together so magically.”
- My Home Away From Home & Mera’s YA Book List Review

“I was truly taken with this book… It takes a great plot to really stump and throw the reader off and Juba did an awesome job of keeping me interested. This author is going on my favorites list and I can’t wait to read more of her books.”
- Shadow Kisses

“I love anything to do with psychics, fortune tellers, and teenagers who get themselves into scary situations and Dark Before Dawn didn’t disappoint me at all. This is a Young Adult novel but I can tell you that as an adult I was completely drawn into the story and anxious to see how it would all end…Stacy has an easy way of writing that draws you into her stories and keeps you there.”

Disney’s Radio Rebel Teaches Teens & Tweens To Be Themselves

Last night, we watched a family movie on the Disney Channel called Radio Rebel. Can I just say that if I was still a tween or teen, this would have been one of my favorite movies? I would have watched it over and over again, the way I always did with my favorites back then. Starring Disney sweetheart Debby Ryan, the movie follows high school senior Tara, so shy that she dreads speaking to anyone in the hallways or getting called on in class. But secretly, she has another identity as confident host of the Radio Rebel show — and to her own surprise, she’s a hit.

I loved how this movie encouraged kids to be themselves and take a chance, even if it means standing apart from their friends or going outside their comfort zone. I could even relate to it as an adult, as I’m soft-spoken and introverted when around others in my every-day life, however, confident and a risk-taker in my other role as an author. Since I write young adult books myself, I was interested to know that this movie was based on the book Shrinking Violet by Danielle Joseph, which I hope kids will check out.

I’m a sucker for underdog stories, and included similar themes in my YA novel Dark Before Dawn, appropriate for ages 12 and up. When teen psychic Dawn Christian gets involved with a fortuneteller mentor and two girls who share her mysterious talents, she finally belongs after years of being a misfit. When she learns her new friends may be tied to freak “accidents” in town, Dawn has an important choice to make – continue developing the talent that makes her special or challenge the only people who have ever accepted her. Like Tara in Radio Rebel, Dawn must learn to accept who she is, stand up for her beliefs and take some chances, as well as deal with bullies in the cool crowd.

If you have a tween or teen in the house, tell them to check out a re-run of Radio Rebel or to read Shrinking Violet. And if you think of it, also tell them about Dark Before Dawn. It can be hard not giving into peer pressure and finding your own inner power, and sometimes it’s inspiring to identify with a fictional character undergoing the same struggles.

99 Cent Kindle/Nook Sale – Get in Halloween Spirit With Psychic Paranormal Read

If you’re looking for a good book to get into the Halloween spirit, I hope you’ll consider my new young adult psychic paranormal thriller Dark Before Dawn. As a special Halloween promotion, I’m offering the book for 99 cents on Kindle, Nook and Smashwords throughout October.

Psychic chills and thrills in a deserted New England beach town.

Dark Before Dawn is aimed at teens, and at adults who enjoy paranormal thrillers such as the Twilight, Vampire Diaries, or even the Harry Potter series. I loved writing this book as it deals with all sorts of fun topics, such as psychic abilities, telepathy, mind control, and crystals. If you were ever picked last in gym class, or felt awkward in high school, you’ll love this book! There are no vampires, no werewolves, just a girl with psychic abilities who gets in way, way over her head.

Don’t have an e-reader? Stay tuned as the paperback version will be released in a few weeks. In the meantime, those of you who enjoy e-books can be among the first to read Dark Before Dawn. To celebrate the release, I’ve joined in on a special multi-blog giveaway of the winner’s choice, either an iPad2 or $500 in Pay Pal cash. Later this month, I’ll also be participating in the Spooktacular Giveaway Hop and the Monster Mash and Bash Giveaway Hop and will be giving away paranormal titles by author friends. I’m also working on a very special giveaway that ties into the book’s psychic theme and will be teaming up with a group of talented young adult authors who are also offering their paranormal thrillers for 99 cents this month. In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more about the writing of this book, but in the meantime, any help with spreading the word about Dark Before Dawn is much appreciated and I hope you enjoy the opportunity to get a sneak peek at this fun Halloween read for 99 cents.
