I just wanted to post a quick update for those who were following my personal quest to make it 21 days without complaining. (the Complaint Free World Challenge.) I had received a few notes that some readers were joining me in the challenge, so didn’t want to go too long without an update. I’m nowhere near 21 days, but I’ve made it a few days here and there. For awhile, I was absorbed in a lot of motivational books on my Kindle, and I promised to review some of them here. I still plan to do so, but I have taken a break from the books to follow a suggestion that was inside one of them – to de-clutter.
I’ve been up to my ears in de-cluttering for the past few weeks. I must have donated ten bags of clothes to charity, cleared out old toys, created an organizational system for the top of my dresser, and organized my office. Although I wouldn’t exactly call the process fun, I am quite pleased with the results and have even discovered some items that were lost for months.
It makes sense that being more organized will put you in a better mood. I even have a line in my young adult psychic thriller Dark Before Dawn which says that outside order supports inner order. It’s easy to forget that in the real world, though, when there are so many tasks clamoring for our time. So to those of you who are trying to be more positive, while you’re working on improving your inner self, take a look at your external surroundings. Tackle your clutter and you’ll be taking a step in the right direction.
