Interview with Romance Author Paige Rion @paigerion_books

I welcome Paige Rion to my blog today. Paige is a romance author, who just released her debut novel, a new adult romance, Written On Her Heart! It’s the first in the Callaway Cove Series and she’s here to talk about it.

Do you outline your books or wing it? Describe your process.

I sort of do both, but for starters, I HAVE to at least have a rough outline. Otherwise, my book loses focus. Once I have my outline and I’m writing, however, I often change things as I go and allow myself to go off course and follow the character’s leads.

What is your favorite part of writing?

My favorite part of writing is the end result—creating something that readers enjoy.

What is your least favorite part of writing?

Editing. It’s such a monotonous-never-ending process. I would much rather write than edit but it’s a necessary evil of the writing process.

How much time do you spend promoting your books?

This is my first published work. I’ve spent quite a bit of time getting it ready to launch and planning promotions surrounding its release, but now that I’m done and it’s out there, I probably won’t do all that much other than network and reach out to readers organically and through my blog.

Please tell us your experiences with social media. What are your favorite and least favorite parts of it?

I love connecting with readers through social media! The only thing I don’t like about it is for a newbie starting out, it can get lonely and feel like you’re talking to yourself at times. Lol.

Do you have a view in your writing space? What does your space look like?

I wish! I would love to have an office overlooking a lake or ocean. Unfortunately, there’s no ocean nearby and my office is wherever I plop down with my laptop!

You’re having a party. What character from your book do you hope attends? Why? What character do you hope doesn’t attend? Why?
Ooooh. The sexy and illustrious Ford Delaney, for sure. He’s Andi’s (the main characters’) love interest in the book. He’s a famous author with a past that’s caught up to him. I definitely wouldn’t want Peter, Andi’s boyfriend at the start of the book, to attend. He’s too self-serving and a bore.

What do you read? Do you read different genres when you’re writing versus not writing?

I like to mix it up and read a myriad of genres—romance, women’s fiction, literary fiction, YA, some mystery, some paranormal and fantasy. My favorite genre though is romance and women’s fiction and I definitely like to read similar genres while writing.

What’s the coolest surprise you’ve ever had?

My husband took me a surprise trip last year, just the two of us, to my favorite vacation spot! I was completely surprised and we had an amazing time.

What books are on your nightstand or by your chair?

Written On Her Heart
: Andi Callaway has dreamed of becoming a published author her entire life. Ford Delaney has always wanted nothing more than to escape his past. An opportunity of a lifetime. This is what Andi finds when she returns home to Callaway Cove on summer break. A chance to work for her literary idol Ford Delaney is up for grabs, and she’s willing to risk everything—her boyfriend, her best friends, and her education—to get it.

She’s positive this will be the key to reaching her dreams. But the moment she begins working for the reclusive author, Andi realizes there’s more to him than just a name. As attraction builds between Andi and Ford, she begins to discover consequences must come hand-in-hand with something great—which could loosen control over her tightly wound life. And once romantic sparks fly, Andi’s other relationships start to crumble, Ford’s fame comes back to haunt him, and the heat they generate will either forge a powerful, enduring love or threaten everything she holds dear.
