Creative Grilled Dessert: With Small Town Series Romance Author Elizabeth Rose @ElizRoseNovels

I welcome Elizabeth Rose to my blog today. Elizabeth is one of the authors featured in the new release:Bake, Love, Write: 105 Authors Share Dessert Recipes and Advice on Love and Writing.

Elizabeth is the author of 34 books, writing contemporary, historical and paranormal romance. She has a recipe page on her site where her characters talk about the things they’ve cooked and served in her stories. Her Tarnished Saints Series is about 12 brothers – The Taylor Twelve. They are sons of a preacher, but far from saints – they are nothing but trouble.

1. What is the name of the recipe you included in Bake, Love, Write? Could you tell us a little about it, and why did you choose that recipe?
simon500
Sure. My recipe is for Grilled Peaches with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. I chose this recipe because I love to grill, and every year at the end of summer I have lots of fresh peaches from a farm in Michigan. In my novel, Saving Simon, which takes place in Michigan, my hero, Simon, takes Piper, the heroine, to an orchard to pick peaches, and she makes this dessert for him.

2. Could you give a short quote of the advice you included in the book?
My advice for a lasting relationship was to always communicate. As for writing, my advice was to let your characters do what they want.

3. Use your writerly powers of description to describe your kitchen.
(Ok, I hate my kitchen and it needs remodeling, so this is how it looks in my mind.) “The kitchen was cold, old, and put goosebumps on my arms and a sense of fear in my heart. The floor creaked and threatened to cave in beneath my feet as I walked across the room no larger than the work shed behind my house. Every ancient cabinet with peeled paint flapped in the breeze, and the broken blinds on the window reached out like the bony fingers of a flesh-rotting zombie, trying to kill me. The oven door fell open with a bang and I was sure some witch was about to push me inside and cook me for dinner. I felt the walls closing in around me and the sight was so horrific I wanted to scream. Anyone who entered this room of torture was sure to run!” So now you see why I grill outside?

4. Tell us about your latest release.
My latest release is Saving Simon – Book 5 in my Tarnished Saints Series. Simon is the safety officer aboard a cruise ship and saves Piper Westwood’s life when she falls overboard. Little does he know she’s about to show up in his small hometown of Sweet Water, Michigan, trying to close down the marina. Can a man who loves the water and sailing, convince a businesswoman who hates water to see things through his eyes before it’s too late? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NCGI6KK. And watch for, Wrangling James – Book 6 of the series to be released before Christmas.

Bake, Love, Write
Here are more details on Bake, Love, Write below:
What do most authors have in common, no matter what genre they write? They love desserts. Sweets sustain them through pending deadlines and take the sting out of crushing rejection letters and nasty reviews. They also often celebrate their successes—selling a book, winning a writing award, making a bestseller list, or receiving a fabulous review—with decadent indulgences. And when authors chat with each other, they often talk about their writing and their lives. Recipes. Writing. Relationships. In this cookbook 105 authors not only share their favorite recipes for fabulous cakes, pies, cookies, candy, and more, they also share the best advice they’ve ever received on love and writing.
